Alayex, this year's Writer in Residence with the Red Line Book Festival, proudly introduces The Queenship Cypher, a trailblazing initiative designed to empower female creatives in Ireland. Stepping into the spotlight is the acclaimed dance artist, Vithoria Escobar, who will be facilitating the Dance strand. Under her expert guidance, this dynamic 5-week program promises to revolutionise the creative landscape for women.

Meet Vithoria Escobar: A Force in Dance and Choreography:

Vithoria is a Brazilian multidisciplinary artist, supported by Dance Ireland and the Arts Council, whose work is rooted socially engaged practice.

As a performer and choreographer she has worked with Culture Night and Irish Modern Dance Theatre’s Dancer from the Dance Festival,  Project Arts Centre's Open Day and also in music videos, commercials and documentaries. She has also led and facilitated dance workshops and classes nationally and internationally.

She co-founded Umakoko, a creative company that aims to deliver high-quality and innovative performances. Under Umakoko, Vithoria co-created, co-produced and co-choreographed a community led dance event Wave, which aimed to showcase the diversity and talent of multicultural dancers in Ireland.

Vithoria's expertise in dance and choreography is set to infuse the Queenship Dance strand with captivating movement and artistic expression. Her mission is to collaborate with female dance artists aged 18+ in Ireland over these 5 weeks, culminating in a mesmerising and empowering dance performance to be showcased at the final event on October 19th.
