PRESS RELEASE: Tallaght Town Centre Proposed Local Area Plan
The Proposed Tallaght Town Centre Local Area Plan which has been on display in South Dublin County Council Headquarters and the County Library in Tallaght since the 13th April 2006 is now in its final week on display. Submissions and observations may be made up to Wednesday 24th May 2006 until 5.00 p.m.
The proposed plan is in its third stage of consultation with local residents and stakeholders. The intention following receipt of submissions is to prepare the Manager’s Report which will summarise and respond to the issues raised. This report will be presented to the Elected Members for consideration at their July Council meeting. It is at this meeting that the Members will debate and the merits of the Plan. As of yet no decisions have been made by the Elected Members on the Plan other than to put it on display.
The Proposed Local Area Plan is a Masterplan to guide the future development of Tallaght Town Centre as the County Town and facilitate the development of the extended Town Centre. The Plan provides for the development of new streets, civic spaces and a park and a range of people intensive uses appropriate to a town centre based on high quality urban design. The Plan also allows a degree of residential use in the adjoining Enterprise and Employment zones in order to maximise the integration of transportation and land-use. None of these sub zonings will become effective unless and until the Plan is approved by the Elected Members. The Plan includes a series of Local Framework Plans for each of 15 Precinct areas and also sets out phasing/sequencing and implementation methods over the period of the Plan ie. 2006 - 20012.
The Proposed Local Area Plan is on display on the South Dublin County Council website :- www.sdcc.ie
