Presentation of €500 gas credit to prize winner

The Council has now successfully completed its Accelerated Gas Fired Central Heating Programme. And what’s more, it’s ahead of all National Targets!

As part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to Customer Care and in line with the Council’s Corporate Plan’s theme for a “Customer Focused Organisation”, Housing Projects Section compiled customer satisfaction surveys during both years of this programme.  A total of 1,800  questionnaires were sent to all those tenants whose homes were included under this programme. More than 600 questionnaires were returned by council tenants over the two year period.  The questionnaire’s sought  information on levels of heating costs, satisfaction with the installation process, difference on quality of life, difference to children’s schooling, improvements in quality of life, ability to use the system, and access to card top up agents.

To encourage tenants to participate in this survey, a prize of €500 free gas credit was provided for by Bord Gais during both  years of the programme. This years  draw took place on  Monday 24th April by way of a computerized draw.

The successful entrant was Mr Bekir Lagumdza and Sofata Lagumdza, 4 Palmer Park, Ballyboden, Dublin 14.

On Tuesday 9th May at 11am, at County Hall a presentation of the prize  was made by the Council’s Mayor, Councillor Therese Ridge. A delegation from Brent including his wordshipful Mayor of Brent Colum Maloney, Cllr Ruth Moher and Cllr Jim Moher attended this presentation as they were on official visit to South Dublin Council as part of the Council’s twinning with Brent. Following this award ceremony, the Marketing Manager from Bord Gais, Donal Clancy,  presented the findings of the Customer Satisfaction Survey in the Library Conference room. Housing Projects Section  co-ordinated the events.  Some of the responses of the survey  are as follows:

•    93% of all those questioned found an improvement in the comfort of their homes.
•    78% of all those questioned said they now have more disposable income.
•    75% of those questioned indicated their gfch system is positively contributing to  the educational performance of their children.
•    73% of all those questioned said that the gfch system is impacting positively on the health and well being of their families.

The success of the Accelerated Gas Fired Central Heating programme has been overwhelming based upon all the positive comments, responses  received  in respect of the door to door surveys and postal surveys which were carried out  over the two year period of the programme. Sample of some comments as follows:

•    There was a lot of cleaning with the coal, dirt ashes. With the gas its much cleaner, more spare to me to do other things.
•    Before everyone was huddled together in one room. Brilliant.
•    Everyone is much happier in themselves.
•    Its made homework easier. More inclined to do homework in own room and more comfortable to study myself.
•    Its deadly in the morning. Arthritis has improved. More mobility at home. Cold caused pain.
•    More value for money.
