COMPLETION OF FOOTBALL STADIUM AT TALLAGHT

The Council at its meeting last night (Monday 12th December) approved the proposal to complete the partly built stadium at Tallaght as a facility to cater for multiple field-sports.

The next steps towards completion are:-

1) The finalisation of the legal formalities for the acquisition of the Mulden lease

2) The clarification of funding from the Department of Arts, Sports and Recreation having regard to the statement in the Dáil on 6th December –

“the Department remains committed to the provision of quality stadium facilities for soccer at Tallaght and that when satisfied that a project which meets this objective has emerged, it stands ready to allocate support to it via the Sports Capital Programme”.

3) The signing of the building contract for completion of the stand and ancillary facilities.

The Council will continue to progress towards completion of the project.
