Sport & Recreation Strategy
2005 – 2009
PUBLIC CONSULTATION
South Dublin County Council through its Sport, Recreation, Community and Parks Strategic Policy Committee intends to commence the development of an Integrated Sport and
Recreation Strategy for the County over the coming months.
South Dublin County includes such areas as Rathfarnham, Knocklyon, Firhouse, Templeogue,
Terenure, Tallaght, Lucan, Clondalkin, Palmerstown, Saggart, Rathcoole, Brittas and
Newcastle and has an existing strong sporting and recreation environment with many more
exciting projects at planning stage.
The Strategy will prioritise the direction of Sport & Recreation development in the County,
concentrating on a number of policy areas for the next five years. It will aim to build and sustain
South Dublin County as a healthy and vibrant location for sporting and recreation expression
and enjoyment.
The objectives of the Strategy taken from the Council’s Corporate Plan 2004 - 2009 will be to
provide a reference document for the context in which South Dublin County Council is working, its vision for sport and recreation development in the County and as a point of reference for all
clubs/community groups and organisations wishing to work on a partnership basis in this
area in the County.
The Council accordingly wishes to invite participation in the consultation process from clubs/community groups and organisations who wish to put forward their submissions on what
should be included in the Strategy.
Please forward submissions to:
Paula Swayne,
Sports & Recreation Officer,
Community Services Department,
South Dublin County Council,
