March 19-25 is Intercultural Week in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The week is built around and includes the United Nations designated International Day Against Racism (March 21).

Intercultural Week and International Day against Racism provide an important opportunity for statutory, Non-Government, media, youth, local development and community bodies to organise events that focus on celebrating diversity

The overall theme of Intercultural Week in 2006 is 'Participation'.

To coincide with Intercultural Week, South Dublin County Council is launching its “South Dublin County - Ethiopian Partnership Project” which is a three year partnership between the Council, the Ethiopian towns of Werabe & Butajira and the Integrated Holistic Approach - Urban Development Project (a slum regeneration scheme) in Addis Ababa.

Further details are available on project briefing.
