Deputy Mayor Karen Warren, on behalf of South Dublin County Council will present the Student Enterprise Awards in Colaiste de hIde, Tymon Road North, Tallaght on Friday 10th March at 1pm.

As part of the South Dublin County Enterprise Board’s brief, the Student Enterprise Awards are organized and sponsored within South County Dublin each year.The  Student Enterprise Awards encourages entrepreneurship among second level students and South Dublin has enjoyed considerable success at national level throughout the history of the event.
Each year students from all over the county establish real life businesses in the school, home and community marketplace. School finalists then compete at County level in March with winners going on to compete at National level in May each year.
 
This year up to 1,565 second level students in the age group 12 – 18 have participated in the 2006 competition in the South County Dublin area.  The county final will take place in Colaiste de Hide Tymon Road Tallaght on Friday March 10th 2006.  This will see over 200 school finalists exhibiting their products/ services and winning projects will be selected in each category. Manufacturing, I.T and service projects are featured and prizes will be presented for Overall winner, runner up, Most Innovative & Best Display awards. Prize money of more than €1300 along with trophies and medals will be presented and the winning project in each category (Junior, Intermediate & Senior) will represent South Dublin in the National Finals on 14th May in Tullamore.
 
Over the years South Dublin has achieved considerable success in this Competion. Last year enterprising students from South Dublin Secondary School,  Loretto Beaufort in Rathfarnham, achieved significant success at the recent National Finals of the Student Enterprise Awards held in Tullamore on 8th May when 2st Prize in the Junior Section went to Bandazia which targeted the lively sports playing community in and outside their school with their handmade cotton bandanas in a range of colours.
