Still one of the cheapest waste management services in the country.

South Dublin County Council announced today that the bin tag price will increase from Monday 3rd April 2006. The increase is to assist in keeping pace with increased costs and the price of the bin tag  from 3rd April will be €8 for a 240 litre (large bin) and €4 for a 140 litre (small bin). This price increase is the first since Pay -Per-Use was introduced in South Dublin in February 2004.
The introduction of the new charge will still make South Dublin County one of the cheapest services in the country – still providing a good value service.

“The introduction of the Pay-Per-Use system has been hugely successful in South Dublin County, as it has resulted in a reduction in the amount of waste being sent to landfill. The Council’s policy is to encourage recycling and reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.” said Mary Pyne, Director of Environmental Services.  ”This is an opportunity to manage your waste and  reduce your costs by recycling more, reusing and reducing your waste” she said.
Following the price change on 3rd April, anyone with unused, intact €6/€3 bin tags can exchange those at the Council’s Cash Offices in County Hall, Tallaght and Civic Offices, Clondalkin on payment of the additional amount. The new tags will be available for sale in shops from mid March onwards.

South Dublin County Council provides a waste management service to almost 84,000 households in the County. This service consists of a weekly waste collection and disposal service and a green recycling bin service which is collected on a four weekly basis. In addition, the Council funds the provision of a network of recycling bring banks, the Ballymount  Civic Amenity and Recycling Centre, a Green Waste Recycling  Centre in Lucan,  and an Environmental Awareness Programme.
