Mayor Therese Ridge on behalf of South Dublin County Council will officially launch Sue Doyle’s Long Awaited Exhibition in County Hall Tallaght on Monday 27th February  at 7pm.

Sue Doyle’s exhibition of paintings ‘Dragons Breath’  will run for 2 weeks.  This will be Sue’s fifth exhibition since she retired from training racehorses in 1994.

Sue’s exhibition is based on ‘Pi’ from the I Ching – The Book of Changes, Sue says: “The Chinese as a Nation are coming ‘on board’ globally – the ‘Dragon’ is flexing and shifting its coils. Mythologically the Eastern Dragon is seen as a benevolent force unlike the aggressive Dragon of the West.”

Sue’s paintings of ‘Pi’ from the I Ching interprets: “a fire that breaks out of the secret depths of the earth and, blazing up, illuminates and enhances the mountain.”  Sue said “I choose to interpret this as a break-through in the ‘Collective Unconscious’, accessible to us all individually if we choose to search, towards a higher goal. The Dragon’s hot breath is everywhere.  We live in a world of change and momentum at the moment which is almost too much for most for us.  When we pause to look, although mostly we don’t, its easier to be soothed by the escapism of multimedia distractions.”

Editors Notes
Sue Doyle
Sue came to Ireland after studying sculpture in Winchester College of fine art and design under Heinz Henghes.  Settling into Ireland as the wife of bloodstock agent and racehorse trainer Paul Doyle, she became a ‘closet painter’ in-between riding ‘work’, racemeetings and being a hands-on mother.

After Paul’s death, Sue took the role of trainer, and became first lady Flat race trainer.  Training such winners as Bold Jessie who won the £500,000 Tattersalls race at the Curragh in 1991 and Jolly Saint who won numerous major races such as the group 3 in the Pheonix Park.  Also, other horses like Smart Cookie and Snappy Dresser the who won the William Hill Sprint at Tippearary.

Tamarisk and Izabella, Paul and Sue’s two children were either to be found riding, at the races, Goffs or learning Suzuki violin.  Then fate took another turn and propelled her out of the closet and back to her original artistic direction in 1996.

This is Sue’s fourth exhibition, the other were in: Rathsallagh House Hotel opened by Dr Nick Beilenburg, Goffs Sales opened by Philip Myerscough, Yeomanstown Mill opened by Sam Stephenson and Peacock and Bower at Johnstown opened by Johnny Murtagh.
