Libraries without walls….Millions of books….One Search
Mayor Therese Ridge will attend the official launch by Minister for the Environment and Local Government, Dick Roche TD, of an exciting new development in Irish Public Libraries on Monday 20th February at 2pm in the County Library, Tallaght.
www.borrowbooks.ie is an online service that allows members of the public search and reserve books and other material from all online public library catalogues in Ireland. This project, developed by the Library Council, extends the walls of Irish public libraries and offers readers access to the myriad of collections held in these libraries. Pilot studies have shown great interest in this service and it is expected that the use of one search facility from home will encourage Irish readers and researchers to use public libraries to their full capacity.
