‘Signature ‘ Bridge Proposal for South Dublin County
The location for the proposed Bridge is at the junction of the
Naas Road and Monastery Road, a short distance to the southwest of the M50/N7 Red Cow junction in Clondalkin, South Dublin County. This is a heavily trafficked junction with significant peak time queuing at the traffic lights at Monastery Road. A new bridge over the Naas Road at the Monastery Road junction will provide significant traffic relief and provide safe and direct access to both the LUAS Depot and to Monastery Road. The proposed bridge is an integral part of the proposed improvements to the transportation infrastructure in the area and the aim of South Dublin County Council is to provide a landmark structure, which will act as a gateway at the entrance to South Dublin from the southwest. Night time illumination is a major part of the overall design giving a visual focus to this landmark structure
