His highly considered and intelligent approach to some of the most enduring questions of form and composition in Western painting has resulted in a distinctly individual body of work. In recent years his naturally understated gifts as a colourist have became more and more evident with an exploration of the compositional tension between increasingly prominent and boldly simplified, irregular blocks of colour.
The main body of the new collection will be exhibited in the Alternative Entertainments Gallery at the Civic Theatre, and a further seven from the collection can be seen in the corridors of the first and second floors of County Hall, Tallaght, from the 7th December 2005 until 30th January 2006.

“I do not seek to illustrate an idea or describe a narrative. The paintings are not conceptual in that sense, and when working I try to leave myself open to the possibility of surprise. The paintings I make signify only that they are what I spend my time doing.” (The Process of Painting, Exhibition Catalogue)
