Mayor Therese Ridge on behalf of South Dublin County Council  will officially host a reception for the Clondalkin Youth Band in County Hall Tallaght on Thursday 3^rd November at 7.30 pm.

Clondalkin Youth Band  was established twenty years ago by Mr. Vincent Dolan (Musical Director).They have represented Clondalkin and South Dublin County achieving  recognition and awards both nationally and internationally.

It has been a busy summer for the 100 members of the band. The group received a tremendous welcome home from the World Band Championships which were held in Kerkrade, Holland on Sat 23rd of July where the band finished in 2nd place with a World Silver medal.

Performing to an audience of thirty thousand people in the Limburg Football Stadium, the band excelled in their performance of the popular classical piece, Carmina Burana composed by Karl Orff. While in Holland the band rehearsed their show for four days from 9a.m. to 9p.m. Following their stadium performance the group performed in the town of Kerkrade to a huge crowd playing a selection of popular hits and Irish classics.

On Sunday 24th July the group were invited to perform in , at Europe's largest Movie Theme Park again to very large crowds.

After three weeks of well earned holidays, the band returned on Sunday 28th August to perform in Farmleigh for one of the few open days and culminated their busy and successful summer by winning the  All Ireland Band Championships held in Carlow town at the end of September.

The band wish to acknowledge the tremendous support of the local community in their fundraising efforts to travel to Europe and represent Clondalkin in such a positive light. .

Congratulations go to all the fantastic musicians and the colourguard flag twirlers of the band on their achievements. As always the group are inspired by band director Mr Vincent Dolan, who is supported by the band's parent committee, drum instructor Mr Neal Christopher and colourguard instructor Ms Tara O'Flaherty who are all dedicated to the future success of the band.
