Seachtain Na Gaeilge 7th March to 17th March 2005

 

 

Seachtain na Gaeilge, the major Irish language and cultural festival takes place this year from Saturday 5th to Thursday 17th of March. I rith an seachtaine seo, tugamid aird ar an gcultúr gaelach agus go mórmhor ar an teanga Gaeilge.

This year’s festival will be launched in Ballyroan Library by the Mayor Robert Dowds on Monday 7th March at 7.45pm. This launch incorporates the launch of Library Week Ireland and it is hoped that a wonderful evening of music and conversation will be had by all in the company of the Celtic Tenors.  Admission to this event is free but by ticket only from Ballyroan Library desk.

 

Beidh imeachtaí ar siúl ar fud an Chontae i rith an seachtaine.  Bígí ag faire le haghaidh imeachtaí cheoil sa chaifé i Halla an Chontae agus in Oifigí an Chomhairle Chontae i  gCluain Dolcáin. Beidh Céilí Mór le Banna Céilí Brian Ború i Halla an Chontae. Ócáid bhailithe airgid ar mhaithe le tubaiste na hÁise agus tubaistí eile san Aifric.  The event takes place on Wednesday 16th March and tickets are €8 at the door.  Beidh fáilte roimh chách ag an Oíche.

 

During the course of the week up to 40 events will take place in the branch library network.  These include tráth na gceist, bingo as Gaeilge do na paistí, music recitals and poetry readings as Gaeilge, author visits and much more.  See our website http://www.southdublinlibraries.ie/ for all of the details.
