Senior Activity Day

 

South Dublin County Council is hosting this Activity Day for men and woman over 55 years in Clondalkin Sports & Leisure Centre, Nangor Road, Clondalkin on Wednesday 27th October 2004.

 

The purpose of the day:                      Is to promote exercise and physical activity for the older adult through participation.

 

On the day there will be plenty of time to chat, have a laugh and participate in a few activities, even some, which you haven’t played for years.

 

Who can attend?            This day is for everyone and any one over 55 years of age -

if you are part of a group, club, association, guild, day care centre, etc., or simply an interested individual wishing to try out new activities.

Activities to try out:

Badminton                                             Yoga

Line Dancing        Table Tennis

Boccia            Pitch & Putt Parachute Game

Tai Chi           Indoor Bowls Aqua fit

Wall Climbing       Short Tennis

Kurling         Horse Shoe Pitching….. And much more!

 

           

Physical Activity is important for older adults as benefits are:

Ø       Improved physical fitness

Ø       Better mental health

Ø       Improved energy levels

Ø       Reduced stress and anxiety

Ø       Stronger muscles & bones

Ø       Better posture & balance

Ø       Longer independent living
