New Customer Care Centre in operation since 1st July’04
As part of an ongoing Council commitment to bring about a more customer oriented service delivery to the public, a dedicated Customer Care Centre has been established at County Hall Tallaght since 1st July 2004.
Some immediate benefits of the new arrangement have been the opening of our telephone switchboard through lunchtime and the availability of a customer service point for all Council services, weekdays from 9am to 5pm (4.30pm on Fridays), through lunchtime.
Staff of the Centre, have been trained to handle as many of our customers queries and requirements at first point of contact (whether in person or by telephone/e-mail) without the necessity of referring callers on to individuals in the various Council Departments. A very high proportion of calls are being dealt with in this way. Obviously, more detailed and specialist requirements will still need to be referred on to the relevant Department.
Customer reaction in the initial stages of operation has been very positive.
This service is in the course of ongoing development and expansion and it is envisaged by the end of 2004 that it will be capable of handling, up to 80% of calls at first point of contact resulting in a more streamlined and comprehensive service to our customers .
