MINISTER ANNOUNCES VOLUNTARY HOUSING PROJECT

AT FORTUNESTOWN WAY, TALLAGHT

The Minister for Housing and Urban Renewal, Mr. Noel Ahern T.D., today (5 July) announced the provision of funding of €22.8m for a housing development at Fortunestown Way, Tallaght, Co. Dublin.

The project involves the provision of 119 units of accommodation under the Minister's Department's Capital Loan Subsidy Scheme for voluntary housing projects. Work on the development has commenced and is expected to be completed early next year.

The project is being undertaken by Cluid Housing Association in co-operation with South Dublin County Council, and the accommodation will be allocated to households on the local authority waiting list. This project is part of an integrated development comprising voluntary, local authority and affordable housing.

"I am delighted to be in a position to approve this funding for much needed accommodation in the Tallaght area" the Minister said. He congratulated Cluid Housing Association and commended South Dublin County Council for their continued work in meeting the social housing needs of the area.
