On Thursday 10th June 2004 at 6.30p.m. in the Headquarters of South Dublin County Council, County Hall, Tallaght the
graduation ceremony and presentation of certificates to the participants of this year’s Spoirt Teic Course will take place.
Spoirt Teic is a FAS Community Training Programme sponsored by South Dublin County Council which annually
provides training and qualifications in Fitness Instruction, Sports Coaching & Recreational Leadership to 26 young
people from the South Dublin County Council administrative area. This year has an extra special significance because
we are celebrating the 10th birthday of the Sport Teic Programme and of the County of South Dublin.
The Spoirt Teic graduates will be receiving three Diploma level awards from the International Therapy Examination
Council (ITEC) in Gym Instruction, Aerobic Exercise Instruction and Anatomy & Physiology. They will also receive
IWS & NCVA Pool Lifeguard, Swim Ireland – Assistant Swimming Teacher and a number of Sports Coaching
Certificates from sports national governing bodies and NCTC.
Most of the course graduates have already secured employment within the health and leisure industry and will commence employment at the end of June. Three of the current participants have decided to continue with their education and will receive training in massage and physical therapy during the new academic year.
FAS is currently recruiting for the next Spoirt Teic course, which starts in September 2004.
All interested applicants should go to their local FAS employment office and register for course BA57A.
