Ahern announces funding of €2.9m to Dublin Regional Authorities

Mr. Noel Ahern, T.D., Minister for Housing & Urban Renewal, today (16 March, 2004) announced Urban and Village Renewal funding of €2.9m approx. to authorities in the Dublin Region under the EU co-financed Urban and Village Renewal Scheme, part of the Southern and Eastern Regional Operational Program, within the National Development Plan 2000-2006.

€2m has been allocated to Dublin City Council to continue the next phase of works in the Dorset Street and Rathmines Areas. Fingal and South Dublin County Councils will each receive €245,400, with Dun Laoghaire Rathdown receiving €240,000 this year.

Additionally, €150,000 has been allocated to the Dublin Docklands Development Authority to assist in the cost of Regeneration Projects there.

Minister Ahern said that "This funding is of critical importance in enhancing the urban environment of thousands of citizens in the Dublin Region. This year's funding will bring total funding to Dublin local authorities since the Program began in 2001 to just under €11m".
