The Council endeavours to ensure that no nuisance is caused to residents who llive in the area close to above centre and following complaints have now installed a MONASHELL Biological Control System at Ballymount Baling Station, installation was comleted late 2003. As it is a biologically active syatem, a series of efficiency tests and monitorings were carried out and following test modifications to the the system were made throughout October and November, The final phase of modification is is ongoing through December and when completed the system will again be tested for efficiency. The Council is committed to resolving this situation as can be seen from efforts taken to date and ongoing attention to monitoring.
In the meantime, daily odour inspections in the environs are carried out by staff of the Environmental Services Department . Strong odours have not emanated from the facility over recent weeks due to measures taken above and cold weather conditions. Statistics regarding complaints record a 50% reduction in complaints received and dealt with in 2003 in comparision to 2002, It is hoped that these measures will satisfactorily resolve the problems for all concerned
