Mayor Cllr Maire Ardagh presents the  Accessing College Education (ACE) Awards to 16 third level students

At a ceremony in the Council Chambers,County Hall ,South Dublin County Council,Tallaght at 2.30pm Friday 14th November.

 

The 16 students who attended Killinarden Community School, Jobstown Community School and St.Aidan's Community School completed their Leaving Certificate in June 2003 and were all participants in the ACE programme.

The students who are attending a variety of third level colleges including the Institute of Technology,Tallaght will each receive a cheque for €400 marking their successful completion of the ACE programme and their entry to third level education.

While participating in the year long ACE programme the students attended extra classes,study skills sessions and language courses.

The three West Tallaght schools who collaborated to design this programme have stated that the number of students attending third level colleges has increased as a direct result of the programme and they hope to extend their work over the coming years.

The Programme is funded by the Department of Education and Science.
