Official launch of the documentary video
‘Féile Sherehe’

The video was produced and directed by Audio Visual Media students at Institute of Technology Tallaght –
Carol Fitzmaurice and Grainne O’Connell
with the support of the Students Union.
It depicts life in the slums of Nairobi for families displaced by war and migration. Documenting the work of Childaid, the voluntary charity organisation, the film follows a Street Festival and Carnival in the district, marking the opening of a new school at KwaNjenga, in the Mukuru district, funded by the Irish Government – Development Cooperation Ireland and Childaid.
As a pre-launch to the video a student debate will take place at 19:00 in Lecture Theatre 001 on the topic
‘Education’ – Is it the Solution to Third World Poverty’
and will be accompanied by an exhibition of photographs taken by volunteers during their visit to Nairobi. You are most welcome to attend the debate.
