95 French Elected Representatives Visit Rural Dublin

Monday 3 November sees the arrival in Dublin of some 95 Mayors and Deputy Mayors from the Puisaye Forterre region (Burgundy) of France. The Mayors will be visiting the rural parts of County Dublin as guests of the Rural Dublin LEADER Company – the rural development agency for County Dublin. Each year the Mayors organise their annual conference in a location outside of France in an attempt to broaden the European spirit. The visit to Dublin is timely given that Ireland will host the European Presidency next year. The Mayors will be addressed by An Tanaiste Mary Harney, TD on Monday evening at their hotel.

As part of the visit a conference will be held in St. Finians’ Hall, Newcastle in South County Dublin on Tuesday 4 November. The conference, which will be officially opened by Mayor Marie Ardagh of South Dublin County Council, will have speakers from the three Dublin County Councils including Mayor Maire Ardagh, Cathaoirleach Sean Dolphin of Fingal County Council and the Dublin Regional Authority. Delegates at the conference will also be addressed by speakers from Teagasc and Rural Dublin LEADER Company. The conference will be followed by a reception hosted by H.E. Mr. Yannick Gérard, Ambassador of France at his residency on Ailesbury Road.
