Press Release – Tidy Districts 2003

The Presentation of the Awards for the Tidy Districts Competition 2003 was held in Red Cow Moran Hotel on 29th September 2003.  This is the 10th year of the competition in South Dublin County Council, the event this year was sponsored by Oxygen Environmental Ltd.  This annual competition is a corner stone of the Council’s environmental activities.  The contribution of local community groups to the maintenance and improvement of estates is a vital element in ensuring an enhanced living environment.  South Dublin County Council relies on the continued support of such groups and residents to create a better county to live and work in.  The aim of the awards is to acknowledge and reward the efforts of those who have contributed so much to the enhancement of the environment.  The effort and commitment made has made a visible difference to the county.  The success of these efforts provides others with encouragement to achieve similar standards in the future.  This year there were 78 entries from residents associations in the six residential categories and 42 entries from the Commercial sector South Dublin County Council congratulates all those involved on the high standards achieved.  The awards were presented by Mayor Maire Ardagh and Mr. Peter McLoughlin, General Manager, Oxigen Environmental Ltd.
