Councillor Máire Ardagh representing the Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Councillor Jim Daly, to perform the official opening of 3 Traveller Accommodation Developments

 

Councillor Máire Ardagh representing the Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Councillor Jim Daly, will today (26/06/2003) perform the official opening of 3 Traveller Accommodation developments at Owendoher Haven, Ballyboden, Cherryfield Way, Firhouse, and Greenhills Grove, Tymon Lane.

 

Owendoher Haven is an 8 Bay Residential Caravan Park with Caretaker’s House.

Cherryfield Way is a 10 Bay Residential Caravan Park with Community Centre, and Greenhills Grove is a Group Housing Scheme of 5 houses and self-contained granny flat.

 

These developments have been provided under the Council’s 5 Year Traveller Accommodation Programme 2000-2004 at a cost of €8.4m. 100% capital funding for the projects was provided by the Department of the Environment and Local Government as part of the National Development Plan 2000-2006.

 

These developments are state of the art and have received huge praise.

 

The Council is committed to the implementation of its programme subject to adequate capital funding being made available by the Department of the Environment and Local Government.

 

South Dublin County Council has the second largest Traveller population in the State.
