St Maelruans JNS, Old Bawn, Tallaght - Green Schools Flag for Biodiversity

12th June 2014

The newly elected Mayor, Fintan Warfield congratulated St Maelruans Junior National School on receiving their Green Schools Flag for Biodiversity as part of the Green Schools Programme supported by South Dublin County Council and An Taisce.

The Mayor, said “I am delighted to be here to celebrate the raising of your 5th Green Flag. It is a great achievement. Taking part in the Green Schools Programme involves a lot of hard work. Biodiversity is a lovely theme and an important one for the future of the planet - learning about the all aspects of nature, wildlife and ecosystems.”

St Maelruans JNS’s students embraced the biodiversity theme. They created beautiful displays of wildlife throughout the school. They also created stories, poems, dance and dramas about biodiversity.

The Mayor continued “Looking after all living things on our planet is very important. We are all connected and it is important that every part of our eco system is protected. Well done and thank you”.
