More Start-ups, More Business and More Jobs. Local Enterprise Office, South Dublin officially launched by Richard Bruton TD, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation

Richard Bruton TD, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, in the presence of the Deputy Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Councillor Eamon Tuffy, Pat Rabbitte TD, Minister of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources and Brian Hayes TD, the Minister of State for Public Service Reform and the OPW officially launched the Local Enterprise Office South Dublin on Monday, 19th May, 2014 at County Hall, Tallaght.

In his speech at the official opening ceremony, the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD, said:

A key part of our Action Plan for Jobs is supporting job-creation across every region of the country. In the past year we have seen major progress on this, with employment now growing in all regions, but we must now build on and accelerate that, and this year we are putting in place a range of measures to deliver on that. The LEOs will deliver more services and better services to the start-ups and small businesses across the country that we rely on to create the jobs we need. Today is a good day for business and job-creation in Dublin.”

The establishment of the LEOs will mean that all categories of business – including sole traders, micro businesses and small and medium sized companies – will have access to Government supports and advice

The LEO South Dublin will be at the forefront of delivering business growth and jobs, providing direct support to everyone with a good business idea and strengthening the enterprise sector in the County. Help will be available to all, the very least that will be offered to a local entrepreneur is guidance to access information and appropriate supports.

The Local Enterprise Office South Dublin will have the full backing of Enterprise Ireland to support business, foster innovation and drive exports. The LEO South Dublin will provide direct linkages to other agencies who can advise on issues such as Revenue tax breaks for business finance, Social Protection supports for entrepreneurs, Microfinance Ireland loans and the Credit Review Office when your bank has said No, Skillets and the Education and Training Boards for business training skills - ensuring the best possible service to people who want to develop their business ideas.

  1. Mayor outlined the Council’s commitment to supporting and sustaining economic development in South Dublin County he added “In the Budget adopted by the members of South Dublin County Council for 2014 a number of business friendly measures were endorsed by the elected members including a business support grant, support for retail forums and a shop front design scheme, a Job Strategy, a joint programme for business sustainability with the South Dublin Chamber and of course, the establishment of the LEO in the County.”

The LEO South Dublin is part of a network of 31 LEOs which will deliver an improved system of local enterprise supports to start-ups and small businesses across the country – with more staff, more funding, and more services being provided. It will be the ‘first stop shop’ for anyone who wants to start or expand their business and create jobs here in South Dublin County.
