Mayor Dermot Looney will turn the first sod on the site of 4 artificial floodlit grass pitches in Jobstown Park on Friday 7th February at 11am.
Funding for the construction of 4 artificial floodlit grass pitches in Jobstown Park was received from the Department of Transport Tourism and Sport. South Dublin County Council has now entered into a contract with Crawford Contracts Group Ltd for the construction phase. The proposed facility will be located adjacent to the Tallaght Leisure Centre. Construction works are due to commence shortly. The expected completion date for this project is mid May 2014.
Mayor Dermot Looney said “I am delighted to turn the sod on this project, I believe that the good sports facilities are a great investment in the future. This is the first step in the provision of a wonderful facility for the young people in Tallaght. I can see these pitches being full of enthusiastic young players and who knows, we will hopefully find the next Robbie Keane, Keith Fahey or Richard Dunne."
