Football For All International Caps Presentation
A presentation of international caps to 4 of our Football for All International Teams will take place this Friday, 6th December 2013.
Among those receiving caps is some members of the DSI (Deaf Sports Ireland) Men’s 11-a-side Football team who beat Germany in the Deaflympics playoff game in Germany on penalties after it ending 1-1 in normal time. This victory secured their place in the 2013 Deaflympics in Bulgaria.
The players from the Homeless World Cup Team competed in the Homeless WC in Mexico city in 2012 finishing 16th out of 48 countries in an extremely competitive compeititon
Other teams honoured on the night were the Irish Football For All U-19 schools team who regained the home nations LD Championships from the hands of England in Scotland in 2012, and our final team presented with their caps the Cerebral Palsy team although disappointed to miss put on the Paralympics in London did secure a tournament victory in a triangular tournament in Spain.
The Football for All programme in partnership with the respective Governing Bodies provide opportunities for players with disabilities to access football at all levels with many having the opportunity to represent their country on a world stage. At the moment the programme has over 3,500 players participating at various levels from grassroots to international level. Tonight 60 international players will be honoured at South Dublin County Council Chambers
The presentation takes place from 7pm – 9pm in South Dublin County Council Chambers. The support of South Dublin County Council in hosting this event must also be acknowledged.
