Lighting up Newcastle
On Sunday 1st December 2013 at 5pm Mayor Dermot Looney will officially switch on the Village Christmas Lights in Newcastle Community Centre, Newcastle Village, Co. Dublin.
This is a ReNewcastle Community Group event which recognises and celebrates 2013 as the first year that festive illuminations have been installed in the village. The event celebrates the enormous efforts made by the newly formed ReNewcastle Community Group, who came into being in May 2013.
Lighting up Newcastle provides a platform for the community to recognise the achievements of local volunteers and to acknowledge the generous donations and contributions made by local residents, businesses, and community groups in the delivery of their shared vision. This event also provides the community with the opportunity of coming together and strengthening their connections and sense of community.
Other local groups (such as R.A.M.S., Ladies Social Group Newcastle, Newcastle-Lyons Development Trust, and pupils from St. Finian’s National School), will be supporting the ReNewcastle Community Group on the evening. Festive Mulled Wine, Mince Pies and Carol Singing will be provided with Santa making a special appearance. For more information or to get involved please e-mail renewcastlecommunitygroup@gmail.com.
