The Draft Amendments Report on the Adamstown SDZ Planning Scheme on public display
The Draft Amendments Report on the Adamstown SDZ Planning Scheme went on public display on Wednesday 23rd of October 2013 and will remain on display until 3rd of December 2013. The Draft Amendments have been prepared in response to changing economic circumstances and to reflect up-to-date policy and guidance. This will enable Adamstown to continue to grow in a sustainable manner.
A six week public consultation period previously took place at the beginning of the year which has helped inform and shape the amendments report.
A total of 49 Amendments are proposed. This includes a total of 20 material amendments and 29 amendments which result from the provisions of material amendments. Draft amendments provide for the following:
- Changes to quantum and density requirements to reflect economic and policy changes and provide for sustainable development. The draft amendments provide for a maximum of 8,145 homes in Adamstown. This compares to 10,150 in the original Scheme.
- Updates to bring scheme in line with current policy and guidelines and Include for 2006 amendment to Scheme to provide for Primary Health Care Facility and revisions to development area boundaries
- Amendments that relate to requirements for facilities and amenities.
- Amendments to phasing and implementation requirements.
An Environmental Report has also been prepared as part of the Strategic Environmental Assessment of Draft Amendments. The Planning Scheme and Draft Amendments have also undergone Appropriate Assessment Screening under the Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC).
Public consultation is taking place from Wednesday, 23rd of October to Tuesday 3rd of December inclusive. The draft amendments report and Environmental Reports can be viewed on the Council’s website at www.sdcc.ie and can also be viewed at County Hall, Tallaght, Lucan Library, and Civic Offices, Clondalkin during normal opening hours (excluding public holidays).
Members of the public, local groups and stakeholders are invited to participate in community workshops to outline and discuss proposed changes to the SDZ Scheme, and in order to inform the submission process at Finnstown Country House Hotel, Lucan, on Monday 11th November at 7.30pm to 9.30pm and Thursday 14th November at 7.30pm to 9.30pm, registration from 7.15pm.
Council staff will also be available to answer general queries on the draft amendments every Wednesday afternoon between 2.00pm – 4.00pm at County Hall, Tallaght, during the public consultation.
