Bulbs not Bonfires is a reward in the Council’s Social Credits scheme. This scheme rewards community groups for undertaking local sustainable projects. The Bulbs not Bonfires initiative provides communities with flowers in the Spring instead of a scarred open space throughout the year. This year’s theme is Safe Halloween
Community groups, environmental groups, resident associations and schools can apply outlining your plans to create a Safe Halloween. Applicants are requested to submit details of their project before the closing date 25th October in order to receive bulbs for planting before Halloween.
Applicants must also nominate the site location for planting and submit photos of the site along with their applications.
Aine McKinlay from Griffeen Tidy Towns planted bulbs during Halloween 2012 and said “We were delightedwith the bulbs from South Dublin County Council. Planting them brought local people together. Wereceived lots of comments on how nicethe daffodilslooked in bloom. This was a really positive Halloween activity with long lasting resultsâ€.
Online and downloadable application forms can be found on our website at www.socialcredits.ie with the closing date of Friday 25th October 2013. All applications will be dealt with on a first come first served rule.
