Garda Vetting for Sports Clubs
Information Seminar
Monday 22nd April, 7pm – 9pm
Bewleys Hotel, Leopardstown, Dublin 18
Did you know that due to new legislation it will be illegal for any volunteer or coach to work with children or vulnerable adults on an ongoing basis before successfully completing the Garda Vetting process?
The National Vetting Bureau (Children & Vulnerable Persons) Act will provide a legislative basis for the mandatory vetting of persons who wish to undertake certain work or activities relating to children or vulnerable persons.
§ Who will need to be Garda Vetted?
§ What action should a club take now?
§ Whose responsibility is it to ensure vetting is carried out?
This seminar will set out to answer questions such as these that many sports clubs and facilities have. Experts from the Irish Sports Council and a National sporting body will outline the procedures sports clubs are required to take to ensure all appropriate volunteers and coaches are vetted, and to address any questions you may have.
Of particular interest to your club Children’s Officer, admission to this seminar is free, but places are limited and you must pre-register at www.gardavettingseminar.eventbrite.ie.
This seminar is organised by the Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown and South Dublin County Sports Partnerships with support from the Irish Sports Council.
Light Refreshments will be available from 6.30pm.
