Seachtain Na Gaeilge is with us again and it’s that time of year when we come together to celebrate our Culture through music, dance, arts and our unique and beautiful language.

Seachtain Na Gaeilge Átha Cliath Theas 2013 has a wonderful calendar of events which includes concerts by Kila, the Jeremiahs, classes for all levels, beginners to advanced, workshops, Traditional Music sessions and tours. The vast majority of these events are free of charge and guaranteed to entertain.

Seachtain na Gaeilge Átha Cliath Theas was launched officially on the 1st March, at 8.30pm by Mayor Cathal King, in Áras Chrónáin, and was followed by An Fachtóir G, a competition in search for a cultural ambassador for the County, running along the theme of Bliain na Gaeilge 2013 and The Gathering.

We are also delighted to announce that South Dublin County Council launched its second Irish Language Scheme this year which is a progressive policy for the Irish Language within our County. Highlights of the programme include: The development of www.deisighdoshraid.ie , www.athcliaththeas.ie and www.southdublinlibraries.ie, self services points as Gaeilge in the libraries and much more, so if you want to do your business with us in Irish, don’t hesitate. The Irish Language Scheme of South Dublin County Council was launched on the 5th March, at 13.00 in the County Library, Tallaght, where all present had a great time - as the images say for themselves!!

Keep an eye out for our logo, and you will be assured of some great Craic wherever you see it and don’t forget to keep an eye out for the greening of our buildings as part of the celebration of SnaGÁct and The Gathering.
