South Dublin County Council, in collaboration with Engineers Ireland, is delighted to present the launch of Engineers Week 2013 at RUA RED, South Dublin Arts Centre on Monday 25th February at 11.00 a.m. This is a nationwide event coordinated by Engineers Ireland as part of their STEPS to Engineering Programme with this year’s theme entitled ‘Bringing Dreams to Life’.

The aim of the week is to positively promote engineering as a career and to create an awareness of the wonderful, life-enhancing and exciting challenges that engineers are involved in and responsible for.

This year, the Institute of Technology Tallaght and local engineering businesses Vilicom and PM Group are joining with us to provide even more interesting and fun events for local children and young people.

This is the 5th consecutive year we have marked ‘Engineers Week’ here in South Dublin County and each year the programme of events goes from strength to strength with over 1600 students from local schools participating, the highest number to date. The week will be fun-packed with activities and workshops, including a tour of Tallaght Stadium. Participants will have an opportunity to talk to academics and students from IT Tallaght, and to professional engineers from South Dublin County Council, PM Group and Vilicom about what engineers do and what an important part they will play in revitalizing our economy.

The event will be opened by the Mayor of South Dublin County,      Cllr. Cathal King in the presence of eminent engineer and academic, Professor Jane Grimson FIEI, Trinity College Dublin at RUA RED on Monday 25th February at 11.00 a.m.
