Red Line Book Festival starts Tuesday 13th November in Tallaght!

From cookery with RTE’s Catherine Fulvio to poetry with President Michael D. Higgins; from fashion with TV3’s Lisa Fitzpatrick to a killer evening with international crime bestseller John Connolly, Mark Billingham and others; from Man Booker Award winner Anne Enright to Irish Book Awards 2012 shortlisted Louise Phillips, there is something for all book lovers at this festival organised by South Dublin Libraries.

The events take place at Civic Theatre Tallaght, Victory Centre Firhouse Road, and South Dublin County library branches. Tickets are very affordable at €10 / €8 / €5

The Festival is the biggest literary event for South Dublin County including over 30 events celebrating books, reading, and the written word. A host of 40 authors will be taking part, including Anne Enright, Gerard Donovan, John Connolly, Mark Billingham, Christine Dwyer Hickey, Sean Moncrieff, Declan Hughes, Maureen Gaffney, Dr Tony Bates. We’re also delighted to include Irish Book Awards 2012 shortlisted authors Louise Phillips, Declan Burke, Niamh O’Connor and Catherine Fulvio.

Writer Dermot Bolger will be interviewing President Michael D. Higgins about his vocation a poet as part of Readers Day at the Civic Theatre Tallaght, which takes place on Saturday 17th November.

Another highlight of the festival is a TEDxTallaght event at Victory Centre, Firhouse Road on 15th November, showcasing the best of Ireland new thinkers and innovators (http://www.redlinebookfestival.com/tedxtallaght). Speakers from various backgrounds will tell their stories with passion and enthusiasm about how they are working to make the ordinary extraordinary, including psychologist Maureen Gaffney, bio-hacker Cathal Garvey, and archivist Catriona Crowe.

The Festival Exhibition “We exercise the power” features at least 100 beautifully painted book covers by John Jones. This will be on display in County Library Tallaght and will be launched with a book club evening there on Tuesday 13th November 6.30-8.30pm. The evening promises to be filled with hot topics for debate!
