SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL Art/Writing Competition
Celebrating European 2012 European Year of Active Ageing and Intergenerational Solidarity
Social Inclusion Week 5th November to 12th November 2012
On Friday9th November at 3.00 pm in the Council Chamber, County Hall, Tallaght, Mayor Cathal King will announce the winners of the Art/Writing Competition on Active Ageing.
The idea behind this competition was to ask the Children living here in South Dublin County to share their views on active ageing and how they perceive it. They had two options on the entry form “Draw a picture of an older person†or “Write a poem or paragraph beginning with the line if I was an older person for one day I’d ….â€.
There were 500 entries received for the competition. This competition provided the children with the opportunity to develop their learning experiences by showing their creativity through language and art. In an age of technology it is wonderful that they get to use their artistic skills whenever possible.
Here in South Dublin County we want to develop an inclusive county where every child has the opportunity to participate and reach their true potential.
