Tallaght Stadium wins the Airtricity Pitch of the Year Award
Congratulations to Nicola Coffey and Killian Byrne following the announcement that Tallaght Stadium has won the Airtricity Pitch of the Year Award for the second time in the four seasons that the Stadium as been open.
This is due not only to the great level of care and attention paid to the maintenance of the playing surface by Killian and his team but also it reflects the high standard that the Council has set in recognition of the need to provide a top-class pitch to showcase the increasingly high quality of football featured in the Airtricity League.
The careful management of the playing surface has meant that the pitch is much more robust and this in turn has allowed Nicola and her team to further develop the range of sports and other activities in the Stadium. The visit last Summer of the Leinster rugby team, the reigning Heineken Cup champions of Europe, to play a pre-season friendly against Gloucester is a striking example of what can be achieved.
The award will be presented to the Council in the Aviva Stadium at half–time in the F.A.I. Cup Final next weekend.
