Recipients of 2012 Local Agenda 21 EPF Grants announced
Mr Phil Hogan T.D., Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, recently announced the recipients of grants under the 2012 Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund. These projects are co-funded by the Department and Local Authorities. In total €27,000 is being provided for projects in South Dublin County.
The Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund promotes sustainable development by helping small environmental projects at a local level. Projects are recommended for funding by local authorities following an open call for applications. A total of 26 projects have been funded this year.
Announcing the recipients of this year’s funding the Minister stated “This funding goes to a wide range of local environmental initiatives right across the country; including community gardens, waste reduction and biodiversity projects. I’m delighted that my Department, in conjunction with the local authorities, can help to make these projects happen and can assist the good work that’s being done in communities right across the countryâ€.
The Mayor of South Dublin, Cllr Cathal King stated “Groups in South Dublin County have always been very active when it comes to the environment, all you have to do is look at the increase in entries for this years Tidy Towns competition – there is huge interest in this area. This grant will help groups across the county make their area more sustainable in the areas of water conservation, biodiversity & community gardens in turn making their area a better place for everyone to liveâ€.
