South Dublin County Mayor Marie Corr officially launches Fused* South Dublin County Arts and Library Services Summer Festivals Ruaille Buaille -Lucan Childrens Arts Festival - on Tues 2nd June at 6pm in Lucan Library. Programme continues until Sat 6th June.
South Dublin County Council Arts and Library Services are delighted to announce the second Ruaille Buaille! Lucan Childrens Arts Festival. Ruaille Buaille! will take place in the venues, schools and public spaces of Lucan and it environs.
Some of the many hightlights of Ruaille Buaille! include a childrens Irish language theatrical production The Elves and the Shoemaker presented by Branar Childrens Theatre Company, A Spotlight on Africa, Ireland and Dublin with Ile Life, a puppet show with Pignut Theatre Company, as well as Storytelling, Poetry Sessions, Puppet-Making, Rap Performances and the hilarity of ReuBens comedy act.
As part of Ruaille Buaille! 2009, a competition took place in the Lucan, Palmerstown and Adamstown primary schools earlier this year. The competitions was to design the festival image 2009. The response was amazing with a total of 12 schools participating and over 900 entries in total. One image was selected for use on all publicity material. The image for the festival 2009 was created by Ellen King, 6th class, St. Marys Girls NS Lucan, Co. Dublin. A number of images were also selected to be exhibited as part of a childrens exhibition and will be on display in Lucan Library for the duration of the festival
One of the festivals highlights is sure to be the Ruaille Buaille! Festival Carnival. This event will take place on Lucan Village Green, on Saturday June 6th, and will feature Eurosamba, Nemo Le Magician, Chinese Dragons, Limbo Dancing, Samba Drumming, Lucan Drum Call, Face-Painting, Fairies, Buskers, Costumes and Masks, Jugglers and Jesters as well as a whole lot more childrens events and performances.
Ruaille Buaille! is presented by South Dublin County Council Arts and Library Services.
