PRESS RELEASE ISSUED 25th MAY 2009
Farmers Market Re-launch
It was with great enthusiasm Mayor Marie Corr greeted stall holders at the re-launch of the South Dublin County Council Farmers Market on Friday last the 22nd of May. The weather tried its best and provided sunshine for most of the day but a few scattered showers did manage to break through. Undeterred council staff and members of the public alike took full advantage of the fresh produce on offer including organic meats, vegetables, fruit, breads, cheeses, hot foods and local crafts.
The market is set to run every Friday between 11am and 4pm hail, rain or shine. Having only started back up in April new stalls were already on site last week and organiser Des Valelly is confident that with word spreading this will be a continuing trend and he hopes to expand the market further as it grows in popularity.
Chambers Square, the host venue, lies ideally between the recently refurbished County Library, new County Arts Centre and the Civic Theatre, beside the main car park at the North entrance of the Square Shopping Centre. Offering fresh produce at affordable prices the market provides an exciting and diverse alternative for the people of Tallaght. Should you require any information about the market you can contact the Community Department of South Dublin County Council at 4149000.
