Winners of HEAT 2 of NOISE Concert 08 ANNOUNCED!

NOISE Concerts are a battle of the bands competition sponsored by South Dublin County Council that takes place every October over four heats.

The competition is for young musicians in the county, ages 15 25, who create their own original music. An award of 1000 is given to the winning band towards studio time or the purchase of new equipment. Each band submitting music will be featured on NOISE, South Dublins Creative Youth website (www.noisesouthdublin.com). Bands in the competition will have their music broadcast on Liffey Sound Radio.

The winning bands of Heat 1 are:

Sombrero Sunset

Filthy Kings

Sombrero Sunset is a newish band that hails from Terenure and Rathfarnham. Together for just a year and a half now, they competed in NOISE for the first time and were a big hit. Their sound and their performance are fun and lively. Theyre tag line is: Show me someone who doesnt like Sunsets and sombreros, and tell me s/hes not depressed.

Colin Foy, Colm Collins, Eoin Leonard, and Bryan Walsh are Filthy Kings. As a band they have gone through many name changes since they started together. First, they were called Fat Camp, then Love Pop Suicide and then for a short time they were Big Bang Baby. Finally, the group has settled on Filthy Kings and released a new EP entitled Buy This With Your Money. Gigging recently at Eamon Dorans in Temple Bar, some fans say their sound is similar to Nirvana and Alice in Chains. Their performance on the 12th was energetic.

The final will take place at
