New Performers listed for October 19^th, 8:15pm, Civic Theatre! NOISE Concert 08! Judges include ONCEs Gerry Hendrick, Announced!

NOISE Concerts are a battle of the bands competition sponsored by South Dublin County Council that takes place every October over four heats.

The competition is for young musicians in the County, ages 15 25, who create their own original music. An award of 1000 is given to the winning band towards studio time or the purchase of new equipment. Each band submitting music will be featured on NOISE, South Dublins Creative Youth website (www.noisesouthdublin.com). Bands in the competition will have their music broadcast on Liffey Sound Radio.

The competition judges are Leslie Dowdall, Gerry Hendrick and Jason Miley.

Leslie Dowdall: One of Irelands best known singer songwriters released her first album 'No Guilt, No Guile' in 1997. As a result, she won the 1997 'Best Solo Female' artist at the Heineken/Hot Press Music Awards. She was also nominated in the similar category at the IRMA Music Awards. Leslie was also the voice of In Tua Nua the band that fused celtic traditions with rock for seven years. Leslie also presents 'TheWhoseday club radio show onRTE 1 on Friday nights, she also works as a music co-ordinator with youth groups.

Gerry Hendrick: Lead guitarist from the successful, Oscar-winning Irish film Once (2006).

Jason Miley: Recently started JAMS, a school located in the Clondalkin Enterprise Centre on Neilstown Road, which offers musical lessons and band rehearsal space to children, teenagers and adults.
