Minister Eamon O Cuiv visits South Dublin County Council Offices to announce increased funding for Tallaght Stadium.
Eamon O Cuiv Minister for Community Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs will visit South Dublin County Council offices, County Hall this evening 10th September 2008 at 6pm to announce his Departments RAPID Sports Capital Top-Up funding for 2008 which includes a grant of 825,000 for Tallaght Stadium. This top-up funding is in addition to the grant of 2,750,000 allocated by the Department of Arts, Sports and Tourism earlier this year. Tallaght Stadium will be a welcome addition to the infrastructural facilities of South Dublin County to the clubs, schools and community - and the funding of Tallaght Stadium provides a direct method to meet a priority need of the RAPID Community of the RAPID areas in Tallaght.
The Mayor, Marie Corr will welcome Minister O Cuiv and acknowledge the assistance of the Department of Arts, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Community, Rural, Gaeltacht Affairs for their financial support to date for the project. Mayor Marie Corr stated South Dublin County Council welcomes the Minister and is delighted with the news of additional funding. This new Tallaght Stadium will be a great asset to the area. We are all looking forward to the opening.
In addition we will have a sporting and multi use facility that that will provide a range of activities for the residents of Tallaght, we will be in consultation with the VEC and Shamrock Rovers to work with and engage with young people at risk and also use as a base to develop outreach strategies to target marginalised groups and the disengaged we would have a facility for the community and clubs of Tallaght and one we can be proud of.
It is envisaged that this facility will put Tallaght on the map for all the right reasons and one that the people of Tallaght and South Dublin County will be proud of.
