Press Release issued 07th August 2008

NOISE Concerts are a battle of the bands competition sponsored by South Dublin County Council that takes place every October over four heats.

The competition is for young musicians in the County, ages 15 to 25, who create their own original music. An award of 1000 is given to the winning band towards studio time or the purchase of new equipment. In addition each band submitting music will be featured on NOISE, South Dublins Creative Youth website (to go live in the autumn). Bands in the competition may have their music broadcast on Liffey Sound Radio and those who make it to the final will receive a DVD copy of their performance.

The heats will take place in the Civic Theatre on October 5th, 12th, and 19th at 8:15 pm. The final will be on Tuesday, October 28th at 8pm.

After winning NOISE Concert 07, Jezzebelle went on to play support to acts like Eric Bell (Thin Lizzy), Don Baker and Rob Strong as well as performing at The Carlsberg Rhythm & Roots Festival 2007. They have also been playing recently in the United States.

About their win, Katie of Jezzebelle has said: Winning the Noise Battle of The Bands was abig surprise, we were up against some really great bandsplusbeing a duo, we didn't expect to win at all.We enteredfor the chance to play gigs and buildon our following in Tallaght, my hometown! When our name was read out on the night of the final as the winners wewere shocked. The prize money was great; it paid for our flights to California where we are right now playing gigs.

But the best thing for both of us that night was the reaction from the crowd and the other bands when our name was announced, they seemed genuinely happy for us. It was the best feeling tofinally receive some recognition for what we do.
