Scoil Mhuire N.S Convent Road, Clondalkin raised its third Green Flag for Water on Thursday 29th May 2008. Deputy Mayor of South Dublin County Derek Keating attended the flag raising ceremony and he congratulated the staff, pupils, board of management and parents association at Scoil Mhuire NS saying Your actions here at Scoil Mhuire NS speak louder than words and you have all taken part in helping the environment by conserving water while continuing to recycle, keep your school litter free and to save energy. I encourage you all to keep up the good work and keep the Green Flags flying!
Water charges for schools are now a reality and all schools are receiving bills for water they use. Scoil Mhuire is ahead of most schools with new water conservation devices such as water butts, basins in the sinks and new taps. This sets an example for other schools and the rest of the community. New dual flush toilets are to be installed this summer and this will make further water savings.
Scoil Mhuire NS Green Schools Committee comprised of 6 pupils, one parent Gabriel ORourke and the Green Schools Coordinator Mrs. Marie Price.
