Bookmark to teach children The Safe Cross Code.
The Road Safety Unit of South Dublin County Council has published the Safe Cross Code in a more user friendly bookmark version replacing the former leaflet style format.
The step by step procedure on how to cross the road safely outlined in the Code is as relevant today as when it was first introduced to children over 30 years ago by Judge from Wanderly Wagon. The code characters have undergone many changes over the years but the message has remained the same. The Councils Road Safety Officer, Margaret Branyan said Knowing how to cross roads safely is an essential part of road safety. It is important that children are taught the very basics of crossing the road from an early age and these bookmarks will be of value to parents and childminders as a road safety teaching aid as well as a constant reminder to children of road crossing procedures. The colourful bookmark is freely available to all local children and national schools throughout the County.
