PRESS RELEASE

ST. MAELRUANS SNS RAISES ITS GREEN FLAG FOR TRAVEL

1st April 2008

St. Maelruans SNS Tallaght raised its fifth Green Flag for Energy on Tuesday 1st April 2008. Cllr. Eamonn Maloney deputising as Mayor attended the flag raising ceremony and he congratulated the staff and pupils at St. Maelruans SNS saying Your actions here at St. Maelruans speak louder than words and you have all taken part in helping the environment by walking or cycling to school while continuing to recycle, keep your school litter free and to save water and energy. St. Maelruans SNS is a clean and environmentally sustainable place. The rest of the community can really learn from you. So keep up the good work and keep the Green Flag flying!

To achieve the Green Flag for Travel the staff and pupils at St. Maelruans SNS have been traveling to school by cycling or walking. By doing this they are helping our environment as fewer cars on the road means fewer emissions to our environment, not to mention the health benefits to pupils themselves.

St. Maelruans Green Schools Committee comprised of 11 pupils, the school caretaker, Mr. P Corcoran the Principal, teachers Ms. Murphy and Ms Walsh and the Green Schools Coordinator is Kathy McHugh.
