Earth Hour: See the Difference March 29th 8pm 9pm
South Dublin County Council is calling for everyone to support the forthcoming Earth Hour initiative which takes place on March 29th from 8pm to 9pm. Earth Hour is an international campaign which will highlight by the simple action of switching off non-essential lights for an hour our concern for global warming. In Sydney, where this campaign started last year a 10 per cent drop in energy consumption was recorded during the hour and it would be amazing if we were able to match that or even better it.
We all have a part to play in tackling global warming. The small gesture of turning off non-essential lights and appliances can make such a difference. By participating in this campaign we will be joining with people from all over the world who are also taking part. Little effort is needed to make a huge impact. Looking at the success of the campaign in Sydney we know Earth Hours hour of darkness can help shed some light on what we can all do.
South Dublin County Council is delighted to back the campaign and would urge everyone to play their part in reducing greenhouse emissions.
So remember Saturday March 29th 8pm 9pm Turn off all non essential appliances
