FEAST OR FAMINE
POVERTY AWARENESS CAMPAIGN IN LUCAN COMMUNITY COLLEGE
In July 2007, the members of South Dublin County Comhairle na ng (youth council) participated in a workshop entitled Poverty and Exclusion Harsh Realities but Realities Nonetheless. Following this workshop, the members of Comhairle na ng expressed their interest in organising their own Poverty Awareness Campaign to continue raising the level of awareness of poverty and exclusion among their peers across South Dublin County.
A workshop entitled Feast or Famine was identified by the young people as the appropriate means to enhance young peoples awareness of poverty and exclusion in 2nd levels schools across the county. The Campaign will start in Lucan Community College on Monday 10th March 2008. During the Feast or Famine activity the students will be informed of various facts and statistics in relation to poverty levels across Ireland and South Dublin County. Following the information session there will be a Feast or Famine activity.
This initiative is supported by the Social Inclusion Unit of South Dublin County Council.
